Featured Student Writer: Gowri Iyengar

Her hands and feet move gracefully
Like delicate little rose petals
Inscribed with the gifts of ancient India
Her prominent smile exposing her joy…

(C) Ray Mata PhotographyGowri is a Bharathanatyam (Indian Classical Dance) dancer from the Natya Anjali School of Indian Dance.  She loves dancing, singing, drawing, painting, and writing.

Mrs. Bana Shastri Ramanath, Gowri’s dance teacher, inspired Gowri to create her poem “Joy of Dance“.  This poem was selected as a Top Ten Winner in our Fall 2012 national poetry contest held for K-12 students in the United States and Canada.  Gowri attends Keystone School in Texas and is in sixth grade.

In the future, Gowri plans to become a pediatrician and continue to participate in her many hobbies.
