Featured Student Writer: Angelissa Delgado

photoAngelissa Delgado is eight years old and attended third grade at Lake Eola Charter School in Orlando, Florida this last year. Angelissa’s poem “Nature’s Life” was selected as a Top Ten Winner in our Fall 2014 national poetry contest for student writers.

Nature’s Life” is based on Earth Day. Angelissa wanted to create a peaceful, magical kind of poem. She hopes her poem will help people think about nature a bit more and encourage everyone to see the good things about nature. She wants readers to look past the outside of nature and look at the beauties that it creates. She hopes her audience sees her view of what nature is:  The LIFE of the outdoors. She wants her audience to feel happy and understand nature’s gifts.

Angelissa loves the outdoors and looks for inspiration from nature for her writing. She realized how her pond outside her home was still, but the wind was pushing it. She wondered how that was happening without waves. She realized everything in nature, every single detail, is important to everyone. Every life must know how nature lives.
