Featured Student Writer: Molly Corinna Shay

on January 14, 2016

Molly was attending Newark Charter School in Delaware when her poem, “It Is Very Peaceful in the Fall” was selected as a national Top Ten Winner in our Fall 2014 poetry anthology. This means that out of thousands of poems submitted into the contest, hers was selected as one of the ten best in her grade division. You can view her winning poem by clicking here.

“I wrote ‘It is Very Peaceful in the Fall’ last year, when I was on a walk with Eva and Dad.” Molly explained, “It was very quiet, the street lights were on.  I saw that I had three shadows, and I went home and started the poem. Later, I looked back at my unfinished poem. I wanted to finish it, and I did.”

Molly loves to write, roller blade, play jacks and dominoes, and read. When she gets older, she wants to be a poet. She would like to write books of poetry, give them to hospitals, and read books to the patients.
